Aug 12th was indeed full of surprises. Being at the age of 21 didn’t
make me go "Oooh" or "Ahhh" or even "Ou mai gawd". It just means I’m
another year older, adding one more number to my age and signifying
that I’ve lived on this earth for one more year. A friend of mine put
it this way.
What is 20 + 1? Most people would reply "21". But
she said: "It means another year of life experience." Which is really
true as at times, I just continue living life as it goes, so much that
I seldom take the time and pause for a moment to enjoy what life truly
is.
That aside, Tuesday starts off with nothing much. My dear
brother, Edmund, has mysteriously gone busy and I didn’t managed to get
through to his phone in the late evening. Settled some funds transfer
with the bank, bought some groceries for dinner, paid my tuition fees
partially, a few more misc stuffs, and then head home.
Nothing
special, Ed came over to cook dinner. Then Salmy and Ni Xuan (my
housemates) decided to drag me out for pizza at O’Connel street, which
I was reluctant to, since Ed was already halfway cooking dinner. Oh
well, I wanna try the seafood pizza again anyway, and was telling Salmy
that I want it as a birthday treat. While we were walking, they
suddenly told me that I was to be blindfolded and to be taken to some
place.
Surprise struck me but I went along with the flow,
enjoying the entire time they were leading me around walking to the
designated spot. One thing I realized about walking blindly while being
guided is that you learn to put your trust on whomever is leading you.
As much as one might want to walk slowly, feeling their way around
themselves, being able to put my full trust on the both of them was
quite an eye-opener. Though pretty much most of the time I was asking
"Flat land? No steps? Flat? Flat flat flat?" Lolz~ I did got spun
around pretty often, just so they could get my sense of direction
messed up, not that I’ve a good sense of direction anyway… Orz~
After
quite some walking, I was led back home to a dining hall which was
wonderfully and lovingly decorated, and with a glass of champagne
waiting for me. >_< Gosh~ I’ve learned that I’ve a pretty low
tolerance to alcohol from Kathy’s birthday some time back. Three and a
half shot of vodka is not fun… *head desk* KO-ed till the next day
with a pretty annoying hang-over… So this time is an obligatory 21st
birthday celebration glass, and I finished it… ^_^ No more!!! Just
one glass made me feel light on my toes already. Nonetheless, the
things prepared by my housemates, neighbours and friends really touched
me. Turns out that during the evening, Ed didn’t pick up the phone
because they were busy preparing the dishes and were telling him not to
answer it. O_O
Had lots of fun, and then another small celebration by my LifeGroup
members on Wednesday night. Really really sweet of all of them. We had
also celebrated Marabelle’s 24th birthday last Sunday (her birthday is
on Aug 11th) at her place. Our LG love celebrating our member’s
birthday, really fun times!!! But when it comes to your turn, it really
makes a difference. The lengths they go to, the sweet messages on the
birthday card, the cake!!! The gifts… They got me a PURPLE woolen
cap!!! Uwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~ So very happy! I believe it’s cause they know
I love wearing something on my head whenever I go out… Like my purple
Fruits Basket beanie cap and my black earmuffs which I’m currently
wearing oftenly; keeps my ears warm and my hair in check.
Phew~ That was quite a report, in a sense. >_< Dad’s birthday is
coming up soon too… Ngehehehehe~ I miss him. Miss mom too. Miss
everyone!!! I really do wanna see everyone again. One year makes such a
difference! Was on the phone two days back with mom, chatting with her
a while and was asking me what I would like for my 21st birthday! Lolz~
If it was last year, I would say the Sony Ericsson 610i, which I’d eyed
on since last year cause it comes bundled with MP3 player and cam. But
now I don’t use my own MP3 player as often, and I’m still loving my
Nikon Coolpix S3 so that wishlist has been scrapped.
Been reading and looking about on the Nikon D60 though… Had
previously eyed the Nikon D40x (10.2MP compared to its 6MP D40)…
Found out about the D60, which will be replacing the D40x. Same
features, same body, with a little more exta feature. For a 126 x 94 x
64 mm size, it’s one of the most compact DSLR. The difference is that
the D60 has a dust-remover sensor (which previously doesn’t have in the
first two) plus Vibration Reducer for its lens. Been thinking that if I
would to one day upgrade my camera, this is what I’ll be looking for.
*shrug*
I do love photography, and at times have thought of going one step
further but can’t really do much as my lovely-and-still-awesome Coolpix
S3 is quite limited in certain ways. Price can be a killer though, as
with most common DSLRs… D40x (released March 2007, and which will
later be discontinued) and D60 (just out this Jan) each passing the
RM2500 mark, D40 (released at the end of 2006) already about RM1800
with kit lens. Dad has a SLR at home too, I think… His first one,
which still uses film negatives. Wanna try use it when I’m back home,
except that it’s so H U G E !!! Well, a girl can wish… >_<
Eeeeps~ This is gonna turn into a DSLR ramble! Shall go back to my
studies…
The week has been really fun and filled with bits and
pieces of surprises. It’s back to the usual normal days… Having a
birthdate makes a certain day all the more special. ^_^
